Thresholds, Signs, and Tactility
In the project Performing the Building Code, I collaborate with Olympia Nouska and Cameline Bolbroe to investigate how architectural thresholds shape the encounter between body and building. Doors, staircases, windows, and walls are not neutral elements; they regulate access, movement, and agency.
Through performative, full-scale public experiments, the project challenges conventional understandings of minimum requirements in building regulations, offering instead a critical and sensory perspective on their future development.
Performing the Building Code is supported by the Dreyer Foundation as part of the five-year partnership Diverse Views of Humanity and Equality through Architecture and Universal Design (2025–2030), a collaboration between the Royal Danish Academy, the Bevica Foundation, and the Rambøll Foundation.
As a final step in unfolding our performative approach to universal design, I will curate an exhibition accompanied by a participatory program.
